Designing Your Dream Kitchen-- What Should You Know?

So, you’ve decided that your current kitchen just does not meet your needs anymore. Maybe you’re expecting a new addition to the family. Maybe you’re starting to cook more at home and need more prep space. Maybe your family has started choosing your home for holidays and reunions.
Whatever it may be, you’ve decided it’s time to design a brand new kitchen. When preparing for the kitchen of your dreams, the anticipation and excitement can cause renovators to overlook small (but incredibly important) details. Lake Hallie Cabinets & Design can help you identify these details to ensure that your kitchen design project goes off without a hitch.
The first thing you should figure out is to determine what your “must haves” are. Do you need state-of-the-art appliances? Do you need a lot of storage or prep space for meals? Do you want a lot of natural light or doors that lead to an outdoor dining space? Make a list of what’s most important for you to have with this kitchen design. Compiling this list will also make it easier for you to figure out what you can afford to do with the budget you set.
With your “must haves” set, let’s determine budget next. Don’t just figure out a budget, though-- calculate a realistic budget. Often times, kitchen remodels go over budget and take longer than you expect. If your kitchen is in disarray, then you should also calculate money you’ll need for meals into your budget, too. Set your budget, and then compare it with your “must have” list. Is it doable in your budget? If not, some “must haves” might need to wait until a future date.
