5 Spots You May Be Forgetting To Clean in Your New Home

9/25/2017

Hidden dirt and dust can build up in your home no matter how much of a clean freak you are. For example, your coffee pot, trash cans, and baseboards. Yup, that’s right; even the coffee pot. If we have you thinking about the last time you’ve cleaned these items, then read on below for a list of other items that may need a little extra TLC.
  • Washing Machine – Have your clean clothes lost that fresh scent? If so, it might be time to give your washing machine a little wash! The process is pretty simple and can be done in just one wash cycle. All you have to do is pour a mixture of white vinegar and baking soda into the washing machine and run it on hot.

  • Door Frames – Just because you can’t see it, doesn’t mean it’s not there. That’s right, we’re talking about the dust collection on the tops of your door frames. Use a feather duster or a soft cloth to wipe the top, sides, and entire surface of the door to remove unwanted dust and dirt.

  • Trash Cans – Taking out the trash doesn’t always get rid of the smell. It’s important to also wash out the garbage can itself. Thoroughly scrub out the inside, rinse with a hose or water and then spray with disinfectant to keep your trash can clean.

  • Light Switches, Door Knobs, and Handles – These items are touched many times a day. Make sure to wipe down popular handles, knobs, and switches to eliminate bacteria and the spread of germs.

  • Cleaning Supplies – This last one may surprise you… but even your cleaning supplies need some cleaning. Scrub your toilet brushes, brooms, and sponges. We also recommend shaking out your dusters and running your cleaning towels through the wash regularly.
